pre-treatment recommendations

Clients should expect some swelling, tenderness and bruising for several days or more following procedures. To reduce these risks, avoid alcoholic beverages for 48 hours prior to treatment and Advil®, ibuprofen, Aleve®, aspirin, Motrin®, Vitamin E, fish oil, garlic supplements, ginkgo, St. John's Wort, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory products for 5 days prior to any procedure.

For those using Accutane®, treatments cannot be performed until at least 6 months after stopping this medication. Patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation cannot be treated and must be in remission for 12 months prior to becoming a BTFL client. In all cases do not stop taking any prescribed medications without first discussing with the prescribing physician or provider.

Individuals who have an active cold sore/fever blister, canker sore or shingles cannot be treated. Those prone to these conditions must consult with BTFL at least one week prior to their appointment for treatment recommendations.

BTFL also does not treat individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
